Council approves bid for basketball court rebuild

DAVISON— Demolition of the basketball courts at the Jack Abernathy Regional Park has been completed, paving the way toward the city’s big reconstruction project.

City council approved bids for the reconstruction of the basketball courts, granting the contract to Rowe Engineering for $108,700.

The Major League Baseball season has reached the Mid- Summer Classic. The MLB All-Star game was played on Tuesday night at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida. The Detroit Tigers have two players representing the Ole English D in Miami. The pitcher, Michael Fulmer, is on the roster, as is Justin Upton. The odd thing is not seeing Miggy on the roster.

GENESEE COUNTY— Members of the Genesee Area Conference-Red – Goodrich, Lake Fenton and Corunna – were left on the outside looking in when they were informed that as of June 20, the remaining member schools, Durand, Montrose, LakeVille, Byron and Mt. Morris were leaving to form a new league.
