First observed on Nov. 27, 2010, it is a counterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which feature big box retail and e-commerce stores respectively.

FLINT TWP.— With stores opening as early as 6 a.m. Thanksgiving Day for the annual Black Friday shopping spree, the big news this year is which stores won’t be opening earlier.

Kmart and Meijer stores are leading the pack with blockbuster deals starting at 6 a.m. Thanksgiving morning followed by Big Lots at 7 a.m.

The volunteers were invited to a "Meet and Greet" with refreshments and photos from the Festival. The DDA began their meeting by handing out Certificates of Appreciation to the volunteers.
